A polarizing “them versus us” “old guard versus callow librarians” prospect has been introduced into the SRRT conversation which is opposed, in my theory.Nobody is preventing other issues from being raised, new reprove forces from being formed in SRRT. Those chore forces which persist are those where people are on the move and committed. There is no scheme to levy one agenda over another in SRRT. The truly that SRRT hasn’t dealt with many of the issues listed by Rory as his favored “targets” for our toil has nothing — certainly nothing — to do with SRRT’s advocacy on the issues it has pressed, like competitive to war. There is faithfully no indication or claim that shows that advocacy of the one excluded or precluded the others. And as Al Kagan has shown a while ago in a new posting, SRRT’s resolutions over the years have covered many issues of sexual liability in librarianship other than war.But I distinguish that adversary to war is indeed disruptive of the marvellous disorganized of things in ALA as it is everywhere in renowned time where people have the temerity to argue upon it. It should delegate people uncomfortable, it must be disruptive because we have, in our lifetimes, allowed our wars to become normalized exercises which we have turned over to the bosses of specialists in a elephantine but distanced “military-industrial complex” which “takes mind a look after” of war and non-combative. We don’t even go through the formalities of “declaring war” anymore because we have lately allowed ourselves, putative citizens, to assent to that we are in a unceasing submit of managed war and there is nothing we can do about it It seems to even have no to do with what factional celebration is in power.
