Does Your Credit Card Cash Back Bonus Count As Income?
Nov 03, 2009 by askyourmind | Posted in United States
My friends spill one's guts me that you don't have to claim your credit card cash back bonus on your income tax as long as it is under a certain amout. Is this true?
From the Collapse Street Journal:
The IRS hasn’t issued any specific public guidance on whether cash-back card rebates are taxpayer to income tax, says an agency spokesman. But the IRS did issue a private-letter ruling in 2002 that said reliable card rebates aren’t included in a taxpayer’s gross income. Although a private-correspondence literature ruling applies only to the taxpayer that applied for it, such rulings are considered to be a gauge of the medium’s thinking on a particular issue. Tax advisers say rebates are generally considered to be a reduction in achieve price, and not likely to be taxed. Rebates on purchases made for business or investment may have more complex treatment, so consult a tax guide.

What Is The Best Credit Card Reward / Cash Back Program For Buying Things Off EBay With Paypal?

I buy ALOT from eBay using Paypal, and I'm wondering which credit card offers the most adroitly reward (cash back or otherwise) when buying using Paypal. Thanks!
There are credit cards that proffer 1.5% - 2.0% rewards on all spending. For example, the Capital One No Hassle Miles Ultra for Professionals earns approximately 2% rewards on all spending, but the rewards have to be redeemed on airline tickets. Also, the Fidelity Investments Rewards Signature Visa earns 1.5% cash back on all spending.
You can use this rewards abacus to see which credit card will pay you the most for a given spending profile:

Incidentally, on the left hand side of that CreditCardTuneUp foot-boy toward the bottom, there's a blurb you might be interested in about BigCrumbs being able to save you 36% off your Ebay fees.
With Credit Card Cash Back, Do I Get The Reword For Each Daily Transaction?
Jun 26, 2008 by Sam | Posted in Personal Finance
I longing to apply for a CCCB but I want to use it and pay it in the same time. No finance. Do they calculate the cash back based on the day after day transactions or based on the closing balance at the end of each statement cycle?
Everyone I have seen pays on net purchases (what you buy minus what you advent) of sometimes specified types of goods during the reward time period.
Be sure to look over all of the fine print about when, how much, and for how long the cash back is paid. We have multiple credit cards (all paid in full every month) to exaggerate our cash back.
And once you select a card, watch for changes in the cash back program we have had cards where the rewards have been reduced or restricted substantially - we don't use those any more.
As a gauge 1% back is good, the best I have seen is 1.5% face of promotions (temporary higher rates) or cards through specific retailers that consequence store credit for as much as 5% for net purchases in their stores.
