by teens i degraded someone who is not old enough to have credit card.
depending on where you dwell you can get Visa gift cards, basically prepaid credit cards, my sister used one on her trip when she was like 15 or something, and she even late it accidentally and was able to cancel that one and get a new one with the same balance. they are a nice way to go because they are prepaid and no fees, etc. and where I exist, you just go to gas stations or wal-marts and such and they usually have them and you just buy them that way. And you can use them online for shopping. included a unite to the faq there that explains more towards the bottom about online paying with one.

I keep begging my mum for a credit be honest, and she says-
"Well... When you get a job"
I just wanted to know what your thoughts on teens and credit cards are?
(I recall when i was in grade 5, a girl in my class had a credit card, so I've been asking my mum ever since that day.)
You can ask for a secured credit or preloaded debit postal card, instead. For that matter, if you have a checking account, you can get a debit card that's tied to the account.
A secured credit greetings card is a credit card that has had money deposited into an account, and the user can use it like a regular credit car-card. This way a parent can allow a teen to go shopping online, and yet control spending. A debit playing-card is also tied to an account, usually a checking account, and again can be used online or anywhere else a credit membership card can be used. I have a debit card, and I frequently use it online. I vastly prefer to use my debit likely rather than my credit card, because it's so easy to spend more than I really should, and because I don't like paying interest. I'm 51, by the way, and I have really a large limit on my credit cards.
Your mother probably doesn't want you to overspend. Credit cards normally have pretty high interest. How are you going to pay for the charges and interest, since you don't have a job? If you expect her to pay for it all, you're going to have to show that you can be responsible in other ways first.
If you are constantly spending your countenancing and other money right when you get it, then your mom is right to be concerned about letting you have a credit card. You need to show that you can reserve money for the long run, not just spend it.
In my opinion, a teen should have a source of return before she gets her hands on a credit card. They are very easily abused, and can wreck a budget in a very gruff period of time.

I cognizant of I'm in a minority thinking that a responsible 18-year-old should build a credit history through use of "true" credit cards. While I don't want to provoke arguments here, I'll just say that my 20-year-old daughter has a TransUnion credit myriads (creditkarma.com) of 760 that I can't help but believe will help with favorable loan rates on a first mortgage.
As I catch on to it, with a few exceptions, most of the provisions of the new "Credit Card Accountability, Responsibility and Disclosure Act of 2009" -- and I take for granted including Title III (the controls on under-age-21 issuance) -- don't become effective until February 2010. What are the big-name slated issuers doing over the intervening months?
I'd like to get my 18-year-old son erection his credit history, and for right now he's got a 2-month-old Citibank secured card (required a bank equal to the credit limit) with a very, very modest summer lifeguard job income. I suspect it will promote his creditworthiness after building some months of a good history on the secured card to direct to a regular credit card. While I could always co-sign, it seems logical that it might be preferable for credit score purposes for it to be unprejudiced his card. I figure he needs to wait to have a number of months of secured likely transactions before going for the real thing. I don't want to see him wait too close to February 2010. Or are the important banks already reining in their credit for teens in view of the impending restrictions?
