Communication a credit reporting agency. You usually get one free credit report each year, I think. You should pay off any past due famed balances, and close any accounts that you don't use. Pay your bills on time, that is the biggest piece of warning.

How To Clean Up Credit Report? Get Better Credit Score?
Apr 12, 2009 by Maurice R | Posted in Credit
Ok, I had a credit car-card once and i missed a few payments. HOWEVER, i paid it off. It still shows up on my credit report..how can i clean this up?
now when i apply for a card anywhere i get turned down. How do i fix this?
Well first of all, there are many erroneous answers so far.
Late payments are reported for 7 years on your credit report as per Running of Reporting While - Section 605 [15 U.S.C. ยง 1681c]. If they were late more then 90 days or more, they will wound your credit rating even more then just a few 30 day late payments.
As to getting anything removed by purely disputing it, that is a myth, only un validated information can be removed from ones credit report.
As to why your are being turned down, the creditor is required by law to send you written documentation of why the declined your commitment and who they used to determine your credit rating. This also falls under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. This would indicate what your emotionally upset is then you should try to resolve the issue that is causing the rejection. It could just be due to the current credit crisis.
You can download a unbosom book at the link I have provided in the source section regarding the FCRA and your rights.
Here is a tie up to the FTC on how to properly file a dispute with the credit reporting agencies and how to get your credit reports for free.

What Is The Best Way To Build And Clean Up Your Credit Report And Score?
Oct 03, 2007 by frigga88 | Posted in Credit
mine is saying I have all right to poor credit because of lack of credit but when I go to get a credit card or loan I am turned down. Also is bad because of late credit card bills...so how am I to enlarge it up if I cant get credit?
Ok, here's the extent.
This is how your score is calculated:
1. Payment history- 35%
2. Total debt owed vs. ready credit- 30%
3. Length of time establishing credit- 15%
4. Types of credit established-10%
5. Inquiries and New Accounts- 10%
This is what you should do:
1. Start the ball rolling a checking and savings account at a bank or credit union if you haven't done that already. This established a banking relationship which will stop you manage your money, but also develop rapport with the bank so that you may be exposed to their products primarily if you're an account holder.
2. Get a secured credit card. This is the easiest credit card to get. Some major banks (which I posted links to below) and credit unions furnish them. The reason why it's easy to get because you have to use your own money to place a deposit upfront which is used as collateral to enact a line of credit. This is not a bad thing, being that each time you apply for a regular card whether you're approved or not, it drops your record up to 5 points. So with that in mind you want to get a card that you can easily get and work your way from there. This is a way to "tradition build" a high limit card that you wouldn't normally get from anyone else. Keep in feeling that the deposit is normally usually tied to a savings account or certificate of pay in which means that your deposit money is gaining interest while you're building credit. This is a good way to create a savings for yourself. Also, when you add to the alluvium, you increase the credit line which can also help your credit score because it creates a cushion between your total responsible and your available credit. A good way to use the card would be to treat it as if it only had a $50 limit on it at all times, create smalll puchases and pay them off every month, and add to the deposit as much as possible. As long as you can keep the balance low, if not 0, and pay on convenience life, usually after a year or so, the card converts to a regular card or a better membership card's offered, and most importantly you get the deposit back, with possible interest added to it. So when it's all said and done, you will have rebuilt your credit by dues building a high limit credit card, and have a nice savings for yourself! Then if you want to, you can recite the process again to custom build another high limit card.
3. Enroll in PRBC- Consumer hit it real on the head. PRBC is a new credit bureau that reports accounts that normally don't report on your credit unless you wanting to pay them and it goes to collections, like rent, utilities, cell phone, landline phone, etc. They take these payments and report it in what's called a BPS( bill payment scratch) which gives a more accurate picutre of what your paying and more importantly WHEN your're paying. They've teamed up with a bill pay mending called CheckFree for $4.95 you can set up a checking account and it pays your bills every month and automatically reports it with PRBC
(I posted the relationship to that website as well)
4. Try to clean up your report. A lot of times there are accounts on all 3 agencies that may not be yours and your credit is suffering as a result. Look over your reports and conflict anything with the bureaus that's not yours. As for the accounts that are yours, try to make arrangements with the collectors to get them paid off. Try to negotiate a "pay for edit out" which is a payment in exchange for removing it from your credit report. The collectors may not do it at first, but it's worth a shot. I posted links on negotiating debts too
I identify that this is a lot of informtaion I threw at you, but it should work out for you
I Want To Clean Up My Credit Report Online But How Do I Do It?
Nov 19, 2008 by kitty | Posted in Credit
how do i give up for something where i can see my credit report online with all three companies and also have the option of 1) getting my credit score from each and also 2) being skilful to dispute things online to clean up any misinformation. thank you.
First of all, you can find many credit monitoring services, recall this though, the cheap ones are not always up to date. Just 'google" credit monitoring services and you will find abundance to research.
The only problem is that the proper way to dispute with a CRA is not online. You will often get a computer generated response that solely states the entry is a valid one.
To have a disputed item removed properly it should be done in accordance with the guidelines listed under the FCRA. The FTC has info on the proper way to dispute items. Here is there link:

Being tidy and vigilant about fixing your credit is very outstanding. If you ado reorganize tidy up into it you may not assail c promote a lot of promotion.
For prototype, there is a votaries of contemplation out there that you should basically fight everything and anything on your credit report to see what you can get away with.
The credit bureaus are serious operations with lots of common sense. They do vamoose mistakes sometimes due to the mammoth amounts of intelligence that they are dealing with and you should for all doubt those.
The means in which you dispute those questionable items is also very signal. I have dealt with that in detail on other parts of the place so I won’t get into that elevation here now but being precise about doing this fittingly is very urgent in terms of the blanket d.
